Durian Simps! Durian Burger Exists and Here’s Where to Order in Singapore

As Singaporean cuisine continues to make waves, durian-inspired dishes are no longer stranger to most tourists, especially Asians. Durian is dubbed as the “king of fruits” because of its overwhelming smell, which makes it the national fruit of Singapore.

From ice cream and cheesecake to puree and sticky rice, there is a slew of recipes using this spiky and custard-like fleshy fruit.

Recently, the burger mania in Singapore scaled up with an unexpected combination of durian and burger!

To make things clear, a durian burger isn’t just a fleshy durian sandwiched in burger buns. The fruit is cooked until it turns into a puree paste which will be spread on the beef patty mixed with the right tinge of cheese. The result is deliciously mind-blowing!

Fatboy

The idea of a durian burger was pitched in by various fans of burger bar Fatboy. The restaurant asked for suggestions on what ingredients they should add to their menu. Surprisingly, durian was the top recommendation, pushing mooncake, squid, and coriander to the side.

The durian burger costs S$15.80, plus you can include some add-ons like bacon, egg, sautéed mushroom, spam, or onions (crispy, raw, and sautéed). Moreover, durian burger upgrade is also available with S$2.50 additional price but is limited to one option only. You can choose among bacon cheese fries, beef chili fries, disco fries, parmesan truffle fries, salted egg fries, and more.

Subway

Aside from Subway’s foot long and six-inch sandwiches, the store has prepared an all-new durian delite menu made from real durian flesh. This includes BLT durian delite, chicken durian delite, and durian spread made specially for all durian lovers in Singapore. Each bite is filled with meat, cheese, and vegetable toppings.

The store also offers wraps, delis and salads, potato chips, freshly baked cookies, and assorted beverages.

Lombardo’s Burger Singapore

Famous for their artisanal burgers from Amsterdam, Lombardo’s also serves durian burgers in Singapore. Durian burger has become one of their seasonal specials earlier this year.

The burger restaurant’s Durian King Burger is made from 180 grams of United States Angus beef patty, thick D24 durian puree, and a special in-house burger sauce. Its durian burger is made more delightful with vegetables including red cabbage compote, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour mini pickles.

Unfortunately, the Durian King burger was no longer available at Lombardo's. It was sold at S$28 and best paired with lime zest fries and a refreshing coconut juice.
