Thrift Shops in Singapore for Your Next Bargain Hunt

We know Singapore’s Orchard Road that’s dotted with luxury stores, as well as spanking malls filled with designer label outlets and independent brands. But that doesn’t mean the Lion City lacks fashion options for those who are tightening their purse strings. Thrift shops have always been a part of Singapore’s shopping culture, although it is only recently that they have started getting attention beyond bargain hunters.

Thrift stores offer a different shopping experience as they let you rummage through racks of clothes and bags, with the exhilarating feeling that comes with scoring a vintage luxury piece for a price that won’t break the bank! Plus, they are sustainable! For you next bargain hunt, here are thrift stores to check out in Singapore.

Refash

The idea behind Refash was born when its founder, Aloysius Ang, noticed his wife’s wardrobe filled with unwanted clothes. Afraid that the clothes would end up getting discarded, Ang built Refash in hopes of finding new homes for fast fashion pieces. Today, the store has a range of items for men, women, maternity, and activewear. It even has a category for secondhand clothes with tags!

You can also sell your preloved clothes to Refash. Just pack the items (at least 10 pieces), drop them off at any Refash store, and receive payment in cash or credit within 60 working days.

Threadlightly

Another thrift store in Singapore worth checking out is Threadlightly, a multiconcept initiative that wants to promote sustainability while giving back to the community. A portion of their sales goes to East Youths, an organisation made of student and young adult volunteers. The store is now operating 100% online as the pandemic forced the owners to shut down the physical outlet at Queensway Shopping Centre. Its items are categorized into three: Rehome for donated items for sale; Reclaim for outsourced vintage finds; and Rework for items made from unused textiles.

Loop Garms

This thrift store in Singapore was founded by twenty-somethings who are passionate about anything vintage. Their physical store is decked out with preloved finds like limited-edition shirts, sports jackets, and other rare items that will take you back to the ‘80s and ‘90s. Their products go for as low as S$15!

Nonmainstream

Located in Kampong Gelang, Nonmainstream is a treasure trove of vintage finds. They have cool items from Nike, Champion, Adidas, Fila, and Tommy Hilfiger, among other labels. We love their oversized polos and shirts that will take you back to the early ‘90s, with prices starting at S$20. Nonmainstream operates Fridays to Sundays from 1 PM to 7 PM.

Déjà Vu Vintage

This vintage shop sources preloved fashion pieces from the United States and Europe, giving you an array of style choices at a pocket-friendly price. You can score items from known designer labels such as YSL, Oscar de la Renta, and Chanel. If you are looking for a pretty cocktail dress under S$500, Déjà Vu Vintage is the way to go.
