More than 240,000 children in Singapore aged 5 to 11 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 178,000 have completed the full regimen, the Ministry of Education and the Early Childhood Development Agency said in a joint statement on March 3.
Since the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children started in late December 2021, Singapore has made “steady but good progress” in inoculating the said age group, the ministries added. About 83% of those invited have signed up, and 81% of them have received the first dose.
Given the pace of children’s vaccination, more paediatric vaccination centres (VCs) will close in the coming weeks, including the one at Yusof Ishak Secondary School ([email protected]), which will shut on April 1, the ministries said.
Twelve paediatric VCs will continue to operate after April 1.
