Otakus Are in for a Treat! Southeast Asia’s Largest Anime Festival is Back in Singapore This November

Otaku mode! The Anime Festival Asia (AFA) is back in Singapore after its last physical event held in 2019.

The festival is slated for Nov. 25-27 at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre where anime fans and Japanese pop culture enthusiasts are expected to attend. It is the largest and most followed Anime Comics Game event in Southeast Asia, hosting a total of 28 festivals across the continent since 2008.

Here’s a list of the upcoming activities that will take place during the three-day festival:

AFA Night Live

Enjoy a special night with hololive meet and greet featuring all-star VTubers and Artistes Anya Melfissa (Indonesia), Moona Hoshinova (Indonesia), Mori Calliope (English), Gawr Gura (English), and Tsunomaki Watame.

The festival wouldn’t be complete without the presence of the most talented cosplayers in Asia. Some of the cosplayers you can meet at the event are Charess (Philippines), Ely (Taiwan), Hakken (Malaysia), Hiroto Kuramasu (Japan), Thames Malerose (Thailand), and Xiaoyukiko (Singapore).

The festival will also be launching the new Cosplay Hub where up-and-coming cosplayers will have the chance to showcase their skills.

Afaverse

Everyone is welcome to participate in the Afaverse, which features a phygital playground called the AFA Hero League where they may play games and collect points. Players must build their own Seika AFA-tar and level up by utilizing their interest and expertise in Japanese popular culture.

As players advance through the levels and collect digital AFA coins, they can trade those coins for various perks including the possibility to become the official AFA 2023 Ambassador. Only participants who have registered their AFA band are allowed to play.

Other upcoming events you should not miss are the following:
