Plan Your Vacation Ahead With These Revised 2022 Public Holidays in Singapore

With international borders now gradually starting to reopen for Singaporean travelers, it’s high time to start planning your vacation. After all, we all need a much-deserved break following nearly two years of anxiety and not knowing what’s going to happen next.

On Oct. 21, 2021, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) announced two revised dates for next year’s public holidays.

Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji will now be celebrated on May 3 and July 10, 2022, respectively, instead of May 13 and July 20 as announced in April.

MUIS said the new schedule reflects the decision of Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia to “adopt revised criteria of the astronomical calculation for the determination of the Islamic calendar from year 2022 onwards” following years of research.

For 2022, Singaporean employees will enjoy six long weekends, including four holidays that fall on a Sunday. In Singapore, a public holiday that falls on a Sunday and coincides with your rest day is moved to the following Monday.

Looser Travel Restrictions

Singapore launched its vaccinated travel lane (VTL) early this year as part of efforts to reopen its borders. Travelers coming from countries covered by the VTL will no longer have to isolate upon their arrival in Singapore once they present valid negative PCR COVID-19 test results. This move is expected to revive the city-state’s tourism industry and boost its status as a financial hub in Asia.

So, what are you waiting for? Plan your vacation leaves as early as now and start booking your flight tickets!
