Disney Plus takes the cake this month with its’ diverse slate of content. Throwing it back to Disney’s origins with ‘The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse: Steamboat Silly’ and celebrating the captivating storytelling of figure skating with Yuzuru Hanyu’s ‘Gift’ - we’re nothing short of options.

Check out this month’s mixed bag of movies, documentaries, and series curated by The Beat Asia. From a Sharkfest documentary film on the curious appearance of Sharks in northern waters with ‘Shark Below Zero’, to a new standalone series titled ‘Secret Invasion’ featuring Avengers character Nick Fury; this month’s selection has got something for everyone!

What’s Coming to Disney Plus New TV Series and Movies July 2023  1

White sharks have been sighted as far north as the coast of Newfoundland, marking their presence in Canadian waters for the first time in decades.

Following the first suspected white shark attack in Canada in over 150 years, a team of experts, including Greg Skomal, Heather Bowlby, Megan Winton, and Warren Joyce investigate what could be driving these formidable predators to the northernmost limit of their range.

‘Yuzuru Hanyu Ice Story 2023 ‘Gift’ at Tokyo Dome’

Yuzuru Hanyu, professional skater and two-time Olympic gold medallist, presents "GIFT," the first solo ice show at Tokyo Dome – set to premiere its’ recorded showing on Disney+.

The performance portrays his life and future on the ice, with programmes produced by Hanyu himself and directed by MIKIKO, a renowned stage production expert.

‘The Slumber Party’

The Slumber Party is a comedic exploration of female friendship and self-discovery, based on the popular Jen Malone novel ‘The Sleepover’ .

After a hypnotism mishap gone wrong at a sleepover birthday party, best friends Megan and Paige, along with soon-to-be stepsister Veronica, wake up with absolutely no recollection of the previous night. A kid-friendly ‘Hangover’, the girls are dealt with missing eyebrows, hot-boy hoodies, and baby ducklings, as their only clues to figure out what happened the night before.

‘Secret Invasion’

Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury returns to Earth in the present-day to thwart the clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. The Avengers mastermind is joined by his allies, Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) – as they race against time to unravel a brewing global terrorist conspiracy years in the making.

The six-episode series, which adds an espionage spy flavour to the MCU, is the brainchild of Kyle Bradstreet, known for his work on "Mr. Robot" and "Berlin Station."

‘Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire’

This action-packed animated anthology features 10 sci-fi and fantasy stories that draw on the rich and diverse histories and cultures of Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe; showcasing futuristic visions of the vast African continent like never before.

Created by a team of talented storytellers and produced by Oscar winning director Peter Ramsey, the short films present a bold and brave new world of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters.

‘The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse: Steamboat Silly’

As part of Disney's 100-year anniversary celebration, the charming and Emmy Award-winning series ‘The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse’ is drawing to a close with a thrilling final episode titled "Steamboat Silly."

In this epic finale, Mickey Mouse and his friends must put a stop to hundreds of old film reel versions of Mickey, who are causing chaos all over town.

When: July 28
