Pamper Yourself With a Nice Bath at These Japanese Onsens in Bangkok

Thailand is known for being open to embracing traditions and customs from around the world, and Japan’s onsen is no exception.

Onsen, which means hot spring, is a common way to de-stress (both physically and mentally) in Japan. Soaking in a hot bath helps improve blood circulation, relieves muscle tension, reduces stress, helps treat skin problems, and improves sleep. Add in some minerals and natural elements like calcium and sodium bicarbonate, which the body absorbs as we bathe, it’s no wonder they’re so popular.

There’s no need to book a flight. If you’re looking for a Japanese onsen in Bangkok, we recommend the following spas for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Yunomori Onsen and Spa

Yunomori Onsen and Spa brings to Bangkok the combination of Japanese onsen bathing culture and Thai massage techniques. From traditional to modern, there’s a wide range of baths and facilities available to provide a relaxing and therapeutic experience. From traditional to modern onsen, guests can enjoy their soda spa pool, jet bath, steam room, sauna, cold bath, garden bath, teak bath, and onsen for the whole day.

The baths have a separate area for men and women, and there are locker rooms to keep your belongings. If it’s your first time to enter an onsen, there are infographics (both in English and Thai) that explain how to wear a yukata and what you should do before, during, and after entering the onsen.

For aromatherapy, body scrub, and other spa services, guests must fill out a booking form at least 48 hours in advance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, proof of full vaccination (at least two doses) or negative results of ATK or RT-PCR test within 72 hours is required.

Yunomori Onsen and Spa is open from 10 AM to 11 PM. For more information, you can visit their website at www.yunomorionsen.com or check their Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Kashikiri Soda Onsen and Spa

Kashikiri Soda Onsen and Spa offers a luxurious Japanese onsen and spa experience in Bangkok. If you haven’t been to Japan, their ambience will make you feel like you teleported to another country. From the furniture to the yukata that you’ll wear, everything follows the traditional onsen experience.

The best part about this establishment is that their onsens are fully private. You’ll get to enjoy soaking in a barrel-like tub without worrying about being in front of strangers. You can also customize your bathing experience by adding minerals of your choice: Beppu (contains collagen), Noboribetsu (for relieving muscle tension), and Norikura (contains minerals for healing skin allergies).

Pricing differs depending on when you’ll visit and how long you want to soak. From Mondays to Fridays, private onsen rates are at THB700 per head for 45 minutes and THB800 per head for 60 minutes. During weekends, the rates are THB790 per head for 45 minutes and THB890 per head for 60 minutes.

Packages are also available for couples or if you want additional services — like aroma oil massage, Thai massage, or body scrub — after your onsen experience.

Kashikiri Soda Onsen and Spa is open daily from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM. Reservations are required. For more information, you can visit their website or their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
