Soho House Bangkok Hosts Hard Hat Dinner Ahead of 2023 Opening in Sukhumvit

Soho House Bangkok marked their pre-opening Hard Hat Dinner at the site of the new capital city club in Sukhumvit on Dec. 15, following the Soho House tradition of hosting Committee members for a celebratory get-together club opening before a House officially opens.

With the openings of Soho House Copenhagen and Stockholm in June and November 2022 respectively, Bangkok’s House hosted its Hard Hat dinner in December 2022, marking its opening in early 2023.

Soho House Bangkok’s Committee consists of the city’s leading creatives in music, arts, food, fashion and styling. A host of Bangkok’s finest gathered for a preview dinner prepared by the House’s future Executive Chef, Kesinee (Keaw) Damrongsakul.

Picante cocktails were served alongside dinner, with notable Bangkok figures Bhumibhat (Aim) Thavornsiri, Kanachai, Bencharongkul, Matt Love, Cindy Sirinya Bishop, Patcha (Junejune) Poonpiriya, Pimporn (Pang) Metchanun, Nick Supreda and Ploy Horwang joining the Thai and global team for festivities.

Sounds from DJ Bomber Selecta and Paulie Sirisant sent the Hard Hat dinner off in style, marking the beginning of Soho House Bangkok’s commitment to putting creative arts and diversity first.

The age-old tradition of Hard Hat gatherings dates back to Soho House’s original conception of 40 Greek Street in 1994, with founder Nick Jones building the first house of the international community, opening above his restaurant Café Boheme in Soho, London.

“The first House at 40 Greek Street was accidental. Paul Raymond, my landlord, phoned and asked if I would take the floors above Cafe Boheme. Soho was full of creatives then, and I just wanted people to go in, have fun, and meet each other,” Jones says.

“My regulars at Cafe Boheme helped me create the first committee, and we did a hard hat tour in June 1994, with cocktails in cement mixers. People liked it, and we opened Soho House in January 1995 with 500 members.”
