Eligible Commercial Tenants to Get Rental Payouts From Aug. 6

The government will disburse more than S$216 million in rental payouts as part of measures to help businesses stay afloat amid the pandemic.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) said more than 38,400 tenants and owner-occupiers are expected to benefit from the first tranche of the program. The payouts will be given directly to tenants from Aug. 6, 2021, two weeks ahead of schedule.

The scheme was announced in May to cushion the blow of the Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) on businesses. Under the scheme, small and medium enterprises and eligible non-profit organisations that are tenants or owner-occupiers of qualifying commercial properties and have annual revenue of no more than S$100 million will receive half of their rent for the May 14 to May 29 period.

A second payout equal to another half a month’s rent will be disbursed in October, the MoF added.
