FHA-Food & Beverage 2022 Opens to Celebrate Asia’s Largest International F&B Showcase
Food and Hotel Asia (FHA) - Food & Beverage 2022 opened on Monday, Sept. 5, bringing Asia’s largest international F&B showcase to an estimated 42,000 local and international visitors. A host of dignitaries graced the event, including Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth; H.E. Iwona Piórko, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Singapore; Keith Tan from Singapore Tourism Board; and David Tan, president of Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association.
Tapping on the benefits of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), this year’s Partner of Honour — the European Union (EU) Pavilion — seeks to create new market opportunities and improve access to EU agricultural products in Southeast Asia. With the motto, “Enjoy! It’s from Europe” and “More than Food,” this year will focus more on glycaemic index (GI) and organic products, such as dairy, meat produce, and processed agricultural goods.
Held at Singapore EXPO until Sept. 8, FHA-Food & Beverage 2022 showcases over 2,000 exhibitors from 56 countries and regions, including the largest-ever participation from international group pavilions. About 75 thought-leadership seminars and 100 international speakers will take place in three feature areas: Alternative Protein Asia (APA), Halal Theatre, and FHA Seminar.
Debuting in a 1,400-square-metre area, APA is the newest addition that solely offers plant-based and food-technology alternatives to animal proteins, a maturing industry that is estimated to be worth US$36.61 billion by 2029. It also seeks to address sustainable practices by investing in alternative proteins, which have one of the biggest impacts on decarbonisation.
Another activity to look forward to is the FHA Culinary Challenge where the world’s culinary talents will showcase their gastronomic skills to a panel of internationally acclaimed judges from the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WorldChefs).
Those who will miss the FHA-Food & Beverage 2022 this week can instead participate in the upcoming FHA-HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurants, and Cafes) on Oct. 25 to 28.
