NEA: Dengue Cases in Singapore Drop by More Than a Quarter From May Peak
The weekly number of dengue cases in Singapore has dropped from its peak of 1,568 in May to 402 as of Oct. 8, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced on Thursday, Oct. 13. The government sector said there were 142 active dengue clusters, with Clementi West Street 2 as the neighbourhood with the most number of dengue cases at 275.
Since the start of the year, there have been 28,584 dengue cases reported in Singapore, which is more than five times the 5,258 cases logged in 2021.
In a bid to eradicate the outbreak, NEA urged households and communities to carry out the steps of the “Mozzie Wipeout” campaign at least once a week to protect themselves from dengue. The agency also asked the public to regularly apply insect repellent and get rid of stagnant water in their homes to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
