Singapore Egg Prices Increase Due to Global Inflation

The price of eggs in Singapore has increased, with a tray of 30 eggs now costing S$7.20, up from S$6.15 in February, according to a report by The Straits Times on March 15.

The poultry disease outbreak at Seng Choon Farm last month saw the local egg supply decline as production fell by 40-50%. It was also reported that egg prices in Singapore have increased by 30% since late 2021. However, projections for higher costs are probable before the price stabilises and drops again.

Singapore sources its egg supply from Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Spain. According to suppliers, the price increase is not due to a shortage of eggs, but because of rising global inflation affecting the cost of chicken feeds, logistics, and shortage in manpower.
