This OWNDAYS Pokémon Frame Collection Will Make You Want to Catch 'Em All

Japanese eyewear brand OWNDAYS launched earlier this month a collaboration with internationally known franchise Pokémon, and we’re sure you know what it is even if you haven’t watched all of its more than a thousand episodes.

Pokémon is an animated television series that tells the story of Ash Ketchum and his cute partner Pikachu as he strives to become a gym leader. There’s a running joke among fans saying that Ash is immortal (yes, he’s been 10 years old for many years since the anime’s release in 1997) because of how long the series has been running. It’s that extensive.

Whether you’re still watching the series or not, many of us can relate if we say that Pokémon has been part of our childhood. And that’s what this new collaboration with OWNDAYS is all about. If you want to own something that is inspired by your childhood without looking tacky, you might want to check the frame collections below!

Pikachu

This eyewear comes in a polygonal frame in matte gold with a hint of brown to match the colour of Pikachu’s back and lower-end tail. On the side is a zigzag design that looks like a lightning bolt in reference to Pikachu as an electric-type Pokémon. Other features are an emblem on the reverse side of the temple tips and Pikachu’s national Pokedéx number (025) on top of the nose bridge.

Pikachu SNAP

A pair of eyeglasses and sunglasses in one? Yes, please! This eyewear features a wavy temple and a gold and black polygonal frame where you can attach a grey tinted SNAP LENS to transform it into sunglasses. Unlike the regular Pikachu design, the temple tips of this model have a more subtle lightning bolt shape.

Bulbasaur

This eyewear comes in a Wellington frame inspired by Bulbasaur’s physical Grass-type attack — the Vine Whip — and a temple with bead-like patterns that look like the small bud found on Bulbasaur’s back. It jumped into the bandwagon of see-through rims, making the green’s shade dependent on the wearer’s skin tone. A laser engraving of Bulbasaur’s national Pokedéx number (001) is on the nose bridge.

Squirtle

Here’s another SNAP model that allows you to transform the eyewear’s blue and gunmetal polygonal frame into sunglasses in a split second! It features two Squirtle-inspired enamel turtle-shell tessellations on the temple and lighter blue temple tips shaped like Squirtle’s tail.

Charmander

Want a simpler pair of eyeglasses? This Charmander model may be the one for you. It comes in a Boston-style gold-colour frame with two types of rim finishing, a shiny gold at the top and matte at the bottom. Unlike Charmander’s solid orange colour, the temple tips give off an almost brown shade to denote the flames on this fire-type Pokémon’s tail.

Eevee

This eyewear comes in a Boston-style frame made with two materials, a clear plastic in beige and metal components in matte gold. The front part on the same level as the temple features a horizontal design inspired by Eevee’s ears, while the temple tips assume the shape of Eevee’s tails.

Snorlax

This model comes in an oversized frame in reference to Snorlax’s huge body. Another transparent type, the embedded metal wire core of the frame and temple has become this eyewear’s focal point. To add more character, the temple tips come in the subtle shape of Snorlax’s head.

Jigglypuff

The rose gold trend is here to stay, and this Jigglypuff model is evidence to that! This eyewear comes in a round frame and a pink tinted SNAP LENS to imply the rounded body of our beloved fairy-type Pokémon. It also features temple tips that come in the shape of the fur found on Jigglypuff’s forehead.

Mew

This eyewear comes in a thin, round frame with a shiny metallic pink colour. The temple features evident curves and tips that look like Mew’s long tail. Other features you can find in this eyewear are an emblem on the reverse side of the tip and a laser engraving of Mew’s national Pokedéx number (151).
