Singaporeans Would Rather Be Jobless Than Unhappy at Work, Survey Says
According to the latest survey by recruitment agency Randstad Singapore, two out of five Singapore employees would rather be unemployed than be unhappy at work. The survey, which was conducted from Feb. 21 to Mar. 13, collected data from 1,000 Singapore-based employees aged between 18 and 67.
The survey showed that 41% of employees prefer a positive work environment, while 52% of respondents said they would resign from their job if it prevented them from enjoying life. Both indicate that Singaporean employees are looking to prioritising happiness without letting their jobs take over their personal lives.
In a report released on Monday, Aug. 15, Randstad Singapore said, “Finding happiness and meaning in one’s career isn’t a new concept, but more and more Singaporeans have been cognizant of this issue since the COVID-19 pandemic wrought changes upon their lives.”
Meanwhile, the survey also revealed that Gen Z workers are looking for employers that offer endless opportunities to upscale their talents and skills.
Released on a bi-annual basis, Randstad Singapore’s survey highlights the Singaporean workforce’s perception of the local job market.
