Discover How Plastics Wrap the World at the National Museum of Singapore

Need inspiration? The latest exhibition of the National Museum of Singapore can be your eye-opener to how the world is slowly being wrapped in plastic with the debut of “Plastic: Remaking Our World” by Vitra Design Museum, V&A Dundee, and maat, Lisbon, in Asia.

Divided into three sections, visitors can explore “Kalpa,” an interactive film installation by Asif Khan that shows how the consumption of oil and plastic has caused numerous ecological challenges to our environment.

Discover the evolution of plastic from 1860 until today at the “Synthetica, Petromodernity and Plasticene,” from the emergence of synthetic plastic globally to how it is being used in the present time.

Lastly, the “Re,” taking from the literal name of the last section, this area promotes to repurpose and practice the circular plastic economy with an interactive part where you can visit the sorting zone to learn more about the different types of plastic as well as check out the injection machine that repurposes waste plastic into something useful.

Various programmes are also set to take place throughout the duration of the exhibit. Singaporean residents can enjoy the exhibit for free, while foreign visitors can book their tickets, priced at S$8 each, through this link.
