West Singapore Set to Welcome New Cycling Paths Starting 2024

Get ready to embrace a future where cycling becomes an integral part of everyday life. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) recently initiated a tender to construct new cycling paths in the western and central regions of Singapore, spanning an impressive 34.4 kilometres.

The primary objective of these cycling paths is to enhance accessibility to key locations, including MRT stations and local hubs such as Boon Lay, Nanyang, Pioneer, West Coast, and Dover.

By seamlessly integrating these paths into the existing transportation network, residents in these areas will enjoy improved connectivity and streamlined commuting options.

Construction will be done in phases and will begin in 2024, with the goal of having the paths ready by Q3 2025. These cycling paths are part of the LTA's ambitious plan to establish a comprehensive network of 1,300 kilometres of cycling paths by 2030.

To align with sustainability goals, the paths will be constructed using low-carbon concrete, which boasts a lower carbon footprint compared to conventional materials.
