The Legendary Johnny O'Neal Quartet

Experience an evening of jazz mastery as The Legendary Johnny O’Neal Quartet takes the stage at Esplanade Recital Studio on July 3 and 4, 2025, with both shows starting at 8 PM. A pianist, vocalist, and entertainer for over five decades, Johnny O’Neal is widely celebrated for his soulful expression, dynamic technique, and deep musicality. He is a 2025 Jazz Legacies Fellow, recognized for his contribution to preserving and evolving the jazz tradition.

Having performed with greats such as Ray Brown, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, and Sarah Vaughan, O’Neal's career includes a Carnegie Hall debut and induction into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. Drawing from influences like Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum, his performances seamlessly blend classic jazz, blues, bebop, and vocal stylings with spontaneity and flair.
