BMA Inspects Facilities in Bangkok for Anticipated High Tourist Arrivals
In anticipation of the increase in foreign tourists after China lifted its travel ban, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Deputy Permanent Secretary Chalermpol Chotinuchit conducted an inspection of the tourist coordination centre at Phra Athit Road in Phra Nakhon district on Monday. The inspection aims to check the centre’s readiness for welcoming local and foreign tourists to the city, according to a press release from BMA Data Center on Jan. 30.
The inspection continued through the Phra Lan tunnel near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), followed by tourist kiosks at Tha Chang and Tha Tien piers where Chotinuchit checked the facilities to ensure hassle-free travel for visitors of the historic Rattanakosin Island.
He further suggested placing more visible warning signs and putting them in areas close to tourist attractions where there may be potential risks or scammers. He also ordered the establishment of a tourist kiosk at the entrance of Na Phra Land tunnel to help foreign visitors with directions and other information.
At present, Bangkok has 23 tourist service facilities which include the tourist coordination centre located at the Bangkok Tourism Division Building along Phra Athit Road. It is open on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. The other 22 tourist kiosks are open from Tuesday to Saturday (9 AM-5 PM).
