Dance Studios in Bangkok for You to Work Up a Sweat

Dance Studios in Bangkok for You to Work Up a Sweat

Let's not pretend we're having the dandiest time of our lives when we're on the treadmill at the gym, facing a blank wall and possibly looking long faced.

While the gym may be the first place that comes to mind in terms of getting fit, it isn't the only option out there. Many other alternatives are available for those who want to work up a sweat in, say, ways that don't seem so monotonous. Dance is one of these. Passed over by subscribers of the "I don't dance" camp or by hesitant folks who think it is only for the naturally talented, dance can be considered as one of the best exercises you can do for yourself as it works your entire body and mind.

Wanna dance? Before you change your mind, we recommend checking out these dance studios in Bangkok if you're keen to get fit and get down on the dance floor. Break a leg — but only figuratively.

rumPUREE World Dance Studio

To learn dance in Bangkok, why not go to rumPUREE? It only happens to be the first ever dance studio in Thailand, offering a myriad of dances like classical, ethnical, social, popular, and dance workout and fitness. Start off with jazz or bachata then try out belly dancing, and Argentine tango on other days. If you're feeling adventurous, there's pole dancing, hip-hop, striptease, and even music video dance, among others.

Class packages vary depending on your needs. To focus on fitness, go for the Fit & Firm, which includes dance workouts, fit yoga, Zumba, and more. A 10-hour package valid for three months will cost you THB3,500. To try out all the dance and exercise classes, we recommend their Open Class, with packages that are valid from one week up to three months. For pay per visit, a one-hour session will cost you THB650, whereas an hour and a half class costs THB900. Private and group classes are also available.

Urban Dance Studio Bangkok

This dance studio along Sukhumvit Road may seem intimidating for beginners, what with its dance videos and choreography on social media that are just straight fire. This is all assumption though; Urban Dance Studio couldn't be more welcoming to those interested to learn how to groove, experienced or not. From classes like basic heels, street jazz, and hip-hop to K-pop, basic popping, and open choreography, you're bound to find the class that is right for you. For first timers, a one-class trial is priced at THB350, whereas three-class and one-week trials cost THB1,000 and THB1,250, respectively. Walk-ins are charged THB500 and THB550 for a 75-minute session and a 90-minute session, respectively.

Studio ZOOM

Dancers of all levels, ages, and citizenship (Bangkok resident or not) are welcome at Studio Zoom to find their flow and hone their own skills. Heart is at the center of this dance studio, as it believes in the ethos that "our passion is dance and our dance is all passion." It offers daily classes ranging from street jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary ballet to Zumba, hula dance, K-pop dance, and more. Non-members can purchase a single dance class for THB550 and THB650 for a 60-minute and 90-minute session, respectively. Dance packages also range from a single class to 20-class cards valid for four months.

D Maniac Studio

This dance school in Huai Khwang offers classes from Tuesday to Sunday and rents out a studio 24/7. D Maniac Studio prides itself as a homestead-styled dance school whose passion is to guide dancers to reach their full artistic physical expression. To try it out, you can purchase a single class for THB500, although you sure get your money's worth by availing of its multiple-class packages (three, eight, and 12 sessions for THB1,300, THB3,200, and THB4,500). Its class packages are valid for only two months; the studio also does not accept walk-ins, so you must book in advance. Private classes range from THB3,000 to THB5,000 depending on the number of attendees.
