Empowering Mums: 50 Well-Equipped Breastfeeding Spaces Coming Soon in BKK
It’s no secret that breast milk provides the optimal level of nutrition for infants; however, there is a widespread misconception that children may obtain just as much nutrition from formula milk as they would from breast milk.
Women who have recently given birth may experience non-lactating issues caused by several factors, like hormonal imbalance and maternal stress brought on by their environment. Every mother needs support throughout their breastfeeding journey since they are deserving of respect and affirmation for their unrelenting dedication to parenthood.
In a bid to ease the burdens placed on nursing mothers, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has mandated the establishment of dedicated rooms with essential amenities for lactating mums across all 50 district offices in the city, Thai PBS World reported on Aug 7.
This initiative further aims to foster Bangkok into a family-friendly city by helping children during their most crucial stage of development. This project coincides with World Breastfeed Week, held during the first week of August by UNICEF Thailand. A recent survey by UNICEF Thailand, released on July 10, highlighted a positive increase of 29% of children exclusively breastfed for six months, compared to 14% in 2019.
Furthermore, Chadchart expressed optimism that the public would respond favourably to this project, which would boost Bangkok's reputation as a city committed to the welfare of its people, especially the upcoming generations.
