You Can Now Hail Electric Taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport
PSA, travellers! You can soon make greener travels to Thailand, as Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport has launched its fleet of innovative electric taxis to serve tourists and passengers.
As part of its efforts to cut down on carbon emissions and become Thailand’s first green airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport’s parent company, Airports of Thailand (AOT), has replaced a number of taxis in the airport with electric-powered ones.
Currently, AOT has installed 18 electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the airport’s Zone E long-term parking space, with 16 40-kilowatt output chargers and two 150-kilowatt chargers.
Twelve additional chargers for shuttle buses and agency vehicles will also be installed soon, consisting of 10 360-kilowatt chargers and two 150-kilowatt chargers. AOT also aims to have about seven charging stations at the airport to support the growing EV trend.
In a launch ceremony, AOT’s CEO, Keerati Kitmanawat, said that converting the airport’s taxis to EVs could reduce around 50 million tons of carbon emissions per year.
