Thailand Ranks 2nd in ASEAN and 7th in the World for Fresh Mango Exports

Thailand is now the second top exporter of fresh mangoes in Southeast Asia and the seventh in the world, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported on Monday, April 25.

According to Auramon Supthaweethum, Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiation (DTN), Thailand’s total exports in 2021 reached US$95 million, which is an increase of 52% from the prior year.

In the first two months of 2022, Thailand has already exported about US$11 million worth of goods. This is an increase of 13% from the same period year-on-year, with Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, South Korea, and Vietnam as the kingdom’s top trading partners.

Supthaweethum noted that mangoes have become the most valuable exports in many Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partners and now is the time to expand to other markets.

The most popular strains of mango exports from Thailand are barracuda, Mahachanok, Khiew Sawoey, and Chok Anan. Thai processed fruit exports are also on the rise.
