The Pichet Klunchun Dance Company (PKDC) presents “Riding the Rhythm”, a work‑in‑progress by Kornkarn Rungsawang, at Bangkok Kunsthalle on Feb. 20 and 22, 2026. Emerging from a conversation about the folk performance OOK‑MA (Horse Dance), the work revisits the artist’s roots in improvisational li‑kay traditions, where rhythm is deeply tied to memory, lineage, and bodily knowledge passed through generations.
Through this performance, Kornkarn reflects on how today’s overlapping crises—climate change, conflict, and rapidly accelerating technology—have distanced people from physical awareness and the natural world. The piece examines rhythm as something relational rather than owned, shaped through negotiation between the body and forces outside human control.
Her experience learning to ride a horse becomes a central thread, presenting rhythm as a co‑created exchange between beings rather than a directive action. Movement arises from perception, trust, and shared response, forming a process that reframes how rhythm is listened to and understood.
The performance underscores PKDC’s commitment to supporting independent dance practices and is staged with the venue support of Bangkok Kunsthalle and the National Choreography Center of Thailand project.
