Disney, Epic Games Team Up to Create a New Gaming Universe

Entertainment producer The Walt Disney Company and game company Epic Games are giving us the crossover we didn’t know we needed!

Aimed at giving gamers and Disney fans a new way to explore its magical world, Disney and Epic Games are collaborating to create an all-new gaming and entertainment universe that will revolve around the characters and stories of the Disney brand. It will also be interoperable with Epic Games’ popular action game, Fortnite.

The revolutionary gaming experience offers a variety of features for its users, including the chance to play, shop, and engage with their beloved characters from Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, Avatar, Pixar, and many more.

Here, they can also interact with their respective fandoms and communities and show their love for their favourite content.

In a statement made by Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeney in a press release, Disney is one of the first companies to bring their world together with Fortnite and use their in-house computer graphics game engine, Unreal Engine.

Meanwhile, Disney’s CEO Robert A. Iger shared that the move marks the company's biggest entry into the gaming industry.

In line with the collaboration, Disney is also set to acquire a US$1.5 billion equity stake in Epic Games to support the multi-year project.
