Say No To Plastic With ‘Enough Plastic EcoDrive’ Campaign May 2023
EcoDrive Hong Kong has launched its third ‘Enough Plastic’ campaign this year, encouraging the public to rethink their plastic use and make better choices.
The star-studded campaign features a new up-and-coming generation of celebrities, including Lin Min-Chen, ANSONBEAN, Mandy Tam, and Adam Pak.
The campaign will run from May 1 to 31, with videos and posters displayed on social media, shopping malls, and billboards across Hong Kong. Food and beverage retailers and restaurants have agreed to switch to eco-friendly alternatives during this time to help facilitate the city-wide efforts of decreasing single-plastic use. Other schools and businesses are also encouraged to organise a "NO SUP Day" (single-use plastic) on May 30.
To build transparency and awareness around plastic use, members of the public are encouraged to download the Carbon Wallet app to record their reduction of plastic waste and earn green rewards.
There will also be an art and writing competition for kindergarten and primary school students on the topic of plastic reduction. Campaign co-founders Tansy Tom and Yolanda Choy hope to empower the younger generation to make good choices for a cleaner Hong Kong.
"If we can just change one habit, we can make a difference," said Tansy, "we hope to empower our younger generation to speak up and make good choices for a cleaner Hong Kong." Yolanda Choy echoed her sentiments, saying, "although COVID policies are no longer in place, we still see improperly disposed masks littering public places together with plastic candy wrappers, plastic bottles, etc. We need to give our children a cleaner living environment."
EcoDrive Hong Kong's "Enough Plastic" campaign has received support from sponsors, including platinum sponsor Sino Group and gold sponsor Central Development Limited.
