Immerse in Gothic Suburbia as 'The World of Tim Burton' Arrives to KL
Fans of Tim Burton, rejoice! This year, the American filmmaker will treat Malaysians to an “in-depth look further into his sensibility” featuring “The World of Tim Burton” exhibit.
The exhibition will take place from March 21 to July 30 at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil, showcasing Burton’s 540 new works like drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, and life-sized sculptural installations.
Visitors can immerse themselves in Burton’s singular imagination through his personal archive, which contains his creative outputs throughout his career in the past five decades. Each of these pieces will be presented with “visual themes and motifs that resonate in the distinctive characters and worlds found in Burton’s art and films.”
These include some of his notable works, like “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Big Fish,” “Corpse Bride,” “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” and Netflix’s “Wednesday,” among others.
“The World of Tim Burton” will be divided into 10 thematic sections, namely Influences, Holidays, Carnivalesque, Figurative Works, Misunderstood Outcast, Film Characters, Polaroids, Around the World, Unrealized Projects, and The Artist’s Studio.
Tickets will be on sale starting Jan. 11 via KOL Nation and TicketCharge. The exhibition is organised by Toybox Projects in conjunction with partners Eurasian Entertainment Consultants Ltd and KOL Nation.
