Here are Fun Treats to Enjoy at Bakery Fair This March 2023

Are you one of those people who added baking to their skills checklist during the pandemic? If yes, then we have good news for you!

Filipino Chinese Bakery Association, Inc. (FCBAI) President Gerik Chua announced earlier this month that the Bakery Fair 2023 will be happening on March 2-4. Bakers and food enthusiasts are cordially invited to the three-day fair that will take place at the World Trade Center from 10 AM-8 PM.

The Bakery Fair was one of the activities shelved during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has now returned after four years, which indicates the recovery of the baking industry in the country despite economic challenges such as the sky-high inflation rate.

The Bakery Fair is a biennial civic project of the FCBAI that aims to support and expand the bakery industry in the Philippines. About 136 exhibitors are expected to take part in the fair, which will also feature educational technical seminars presented by industry experts, bakers, and chefs. 

The registration for multi-day passes is free until the end of February.

Competitions

The “Baker's Cup: Wedding Cake Competition” and the “Angel Cup: Bread Display Competition” are two of the most anticipated events at the fair. The former will showcase different wedding cake creations with the theme “Kasalang Pinoy,” while the latter will highlight bread showpieces featuring a “Pinoy Fiesta” motif.

Whether you’re a professional or simply a hobbyist, you can join both competitions. Winners of the Baker’s Cup will receive trophies in addition to cash prizes worth P30,000-P80,000, while winners of the Angel Cup will likewise receive trophies with cash prizes ranging from P15,000-P50,000. The awarding ceremonies will be on Feb. 21-24 and March 2, respectively.

Seminars and Product Presentations

The Bakery Fair 2023 will also be hosting a series of seminars and product presentations from 10 AM-7PM that will be held at the Ground Floor Lobby and the Luna Room of the World Trade Center. These include the following:

  • “Make It Easy with Sugar King: Learn the fastest and easiest way to cover and decorate your cake” with Chef Hannah Granado of Sugar King Food Industries Inc.
  • “Versatility of APC Breadmix: Consistent, Cost-efficient, and Convenient” with Chef Arvin Cariaga of Agri-Pacific Corporation (APC)
