Where to Find Creamy, Nutty Hummus in the Metro

Where to Find Creamy Nutty Hummus in the Metro

Creamy. Nutty. Savory. That's what hummus is, a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean spread or dip made from cooked chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, and spices. It's often eaten with pita bread and falafel but can also be spread on sandwiches and wraps or used as a dip for vegetables.

Homemade or store-bought, you just can't go wrong with hummus. Here are some places in Metro Manila where you can get this hearty dip!

Mara's Homemade Hummus

If you want hummus in a variety of flavors, we recommend you check out Alabang-based Mara's Homemade Hummus. Mara Francisco, a company artist at the Philippine Ballet Theatre, is the woman behind the brand and has gone on to create a wide range of delightful offerings beyond hummus, such as spicy pesto, peanut butter, tapenade, and home-baked goods like pita and focaccia.

A jar of hummus ranges from P100 to P125 and comes in flavors like mild spicy, pesto, original, sundried tomato and basil, balsamic, wild spicy, and limited-edition curry.

Yummza Hummus

Amazing and authentic, these are the two words Yummza promises for its hummus. You'll surely get analysis paralysis in choosing among its 12 flavors, which include truffle, original, smoky barbecue, balsamic, pesto, and tomato salsa, among others. Beyond hummus, Yummza also offers garlic sauce, pita chips, pita bread, and Indonesian sambal.

Shawa Wama

Shawa Wama joins the likes of 8Cuts Burgers, Mecha Uma, Manam, Ooma, Din Tai Fung, and other distinguished restaurants under the wing of F&B operator and developer The Moment Group. This Eastern Mediterranean grab-and-go concept has two locations, namely in Power Plant Mall and Glorietta 4. We recommend you try out its indulgent hummus and garlic pita (P110), as well as its beef shawarma (P199).

Hummus Elijah

Hummus Elijah is one of the best places in Metro Manila where you can get not just hummus but falafels! Its three locations are in P. Burgos, Makati; SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City; and The Village Square in Alabang. Its hummus offerings alone are extensive and come with mushrooms, egg, shawarma, almond sticks, pine nuts, or fava beans. We recommend you go for the Hummus Elijah, which is the bestseller. If you're unable to go to any Hummus Elijah location, you can also order its hummus from Lazada. A 200-gram jar of hummus is currently on sale for P250 and a 500g jar for P499.

Persia Grill

Persia Grill began from the home kitchen of an Iranian-Filipino family in 2007. Today, it has expanded to three branches, namely in Valero and Legazpi in Makati City, and Bonifacio Global City. But don't worry if you can't head to its locations. Persia Grill's online shop offers party trays, groceries, and ready-to-cook favorites! Its hummus, which costs P380 for 250g, is best eaten with extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika.
