Amid Legal Battle, KAWS:HOLIDAY Reopens in Singapore on Nov. 16
KAWS:HOLIDAY in Singapore is not deflating anytime soon.
After a controversial launch marred by a court order over the weekend, the giant inflatable sculpture will be open again to the public.
In a statement posted late Nov. 15, Hong Kong-based creative agency and KAWS:HOLIDAY’s organizer, AllRightsReserved (ARR), said a Singaporean court discharged the injunction against them previously obtained by local non-profit organisation, The Ryan Foundation (TRF).
The court also ordered TRF to pay ARR legal costs and directed an inquiry into the damages sustained by ARR as a result of the injunction, the Hong Kong creative agency said.
On the heels of the latest court decision, ARR said KAWS:HOLIDAY will reopen to the public today, Nov. 16, at The Float @ Marina Bay.
KAWS:HOLIDAY, which featured the 42-metre-long giant inflatable sculpture of COMPANION by American artist Brian Donnelly, was supposed to become open to the public from Nov. 14-21. But this was marred by a court order obtained by TRF, which accused ARR of breach of intellectual property rights and misuse of confidential information.
According to reports, both parties were in talks to bring KAWS:HOLIDAY in Singapore in 2019, but such discussions failed to materialize.
