MOH: Appointments for Nuvaxovid COVID-19 Vaccine Now Open

Appointments for Singaporeans aged 18 and above who are eligible to receive the Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine, which was given interim authorisation in February, can now be booked according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Vaccinations will start tomorrow, May 18, at 20 participating Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs). The vaccines will also be available at the Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre (JTVC) in Bishan starting May 24.

While Nuvaxovid was approved as part of the city-state’s national vaccination programme, the Health Ministry noted that mRNA vaccines “remain the preferred vaccines due to their higher efficacy and the stronger immune response generated.”

Nuvaxovid is generally for unvaccinated Singaporeans who have special cases. “Those who are medically ineligible to receive the mRNA vaccines should consider the Nuvaxovid vaccine,” the MOH said.

For those receiving their primary vaccination series, the MOH recommends two doses at least 21 days apart. Nuvaxovid vaccine is also acceptable as a booster and should be taken five months after the last dose.
