10 Thrift Stores in Singapore to Help You Refresh Your Wardrobe

SG Thrift Stores HEADER

Singapore, being a wealthy country in all metrics, is a den of high-end consumer goods. It would not be surprising if they were prioritised for primetime launches of the latest product lines. With a GDP per capita of US$72,794, as per the World Bank’s 2021 records, Singaporeans have cash to burn.

However, Singaporeans are nothing but wise with their money. And the good stuff are not exclusive to top-tier brands and their shiny stores. Many secondhand gems, some barely used, end up in thrift shops and if you are wise, you know you cannot ever discount these hand-me-down haunts.

For some of the best deals you could get in the Lion City, The Beat Singapore suggests pinning some of these thrift shops in your Google Maps.

SSVP Shop

“A social enterprise of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) Singapore”

This is how you know that SSVP does good in more than one way. What you spend here will go to help the poor people of Singapore through volunteers. This is not, however, your run-of-the-mill thrift store. Often seen in their online auctions are Max Mara, Coach, Tory Burch, and other high-end brands.

Location: SSVP Singapore, 501 Geyland Road

Loop Garms

The prevalence of 90’s-inspired fashion today has some roots in thrifting, and Loop Garms is keeping that rich tradition alive. Wall-to-wall with vintage clothing, there are so many pieces worth buying here that if you drop by, be ready for your wallet to be light a few bills.

Location: Loop Garms, 635 Veerasamy Road #01-148

Something Old Something New

Something Old Something New (SOSN) is one of the charitable arms of Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS). Where the other divisions of SACS focus on providing help to the needy, SOSN provides cut-price clothes for the fashion-needy. SOSN has multiple locations in Singapore, and going to one is worthy of your thrifty hands. Since there is a lot on hand here beyond clothes, be ready to spend a few hours looking for the good stuff.

Location: Something Old Something New, Multiple locations

DustBunny Vintage

Looking at DustBunny Vintage’s services, one cannot help but to sense a serviced aura about them. They have make-to-order dresses, but they only make small batches. You can book an appointment, and the dresses are presented in a straight-up way. But, the bread and butter of this place is their selection of vintage dresses and accessories that are perfect for an elegant night out. If you are one of their possible clients, know that you are in good hands here.

Location: DustBunny Vintage, 2-A Keong Saik Road

NONMAINSTREAM

Sometimes, a thrift store is so thrifty that they get a hold of clothes you would have expected to be extinct by now. That is NONMAINSTREAM for you, and in this street style-dominated era, they reign supreme. This is the kind of place that gives birth to style, because how could you not come out dressed to the nines when this place has Carhartt, hockey kits, and all kinds of cargo?

Location: NONMAINSTREAM, 462A Crawford Lane, #02-73

Refash

Even after multiple visits to Refash’s website, it is still hard to believe that this is a secondhand clothes store. They have such a wide variety of options that we would not put it past anyone to do their usual shopping here. And they have points! For buying used clothes! More than the amazing choices, though, Refash stands for repurposing old clothes and creating a signature style without having to keep buying new items. We stan by that kind of principle, all day.

Location: Refash, 10 Ubi Crescent, #03-19, Ubi Techpark Lobby B

The Fashion Pulpit

You know that feeling of walking into a clothes store, and feeling immediately that you will come out a different person? The Fashion Pulpit does that to a person. They strive for high fashion here, much higher than what your average thrift shop can offer you. Their collections of outerwear, dresses and accessories will have you looking ready for a Sartorialist-like street snap. And lest we forget, they stand for repurposing old clothes. The world could use more of that.

Location: The Fashion Pulpit, 6A Shenton Way, OUE Downtown Gallery, #02-08

Allotherspaycash

@allotherspaycash is not hiding who they are: streetwear-focused, brash thrifters. They have the stuff that NBA players wear, or those that get featured on Highsnobiety. And while their approach would be considered janky compared to others on this list, their items get snatched quickly. You can always order thru their IG pages, but it is not so bad to browse through their entire collection for hidden gems.

Location: allotherspaycash, Queensway Shopping Center #02-41C

The Luggage Market

When we saw the word “ukay-ukay” in one of The Luggage Market’s socials, we immediately thought they mean business. Only open every Sunday, they put big bags full of secondhand items and let their customers sift through them all. It is a riot, and while it may not be your cup of tea, there are some gems hidden under those little mountains of clothes. And doing it with about 50 people is also an experience to tell your friends.

Location: The Luggage Market, Aperia Mall L1 Atrium

New2U Thrift Shop

Feminism, fashion, and friendliness (to humans and Mother Earth) is New2U’s credo. They advocate for women’s rights, climate change awareness, and good style. This is a nonprofit project of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation, and the support of customers goes a long way in helping them continue their work and spread some good to less fortunate communities.

Location: New2U Thrift Shop, 96 Waterloo Street
