MASS: THE WEIGHT OF PERCEIVING

Step into a world where strength and fragility coexist in "Mass: the Weight of Perceiving," opening on Aug. 15, 2025, at 8 PM, at #01-09, 2 Leng Kee Road. This site-specific installation by Ching Kai challenges the way we perceive weight, strength, and materiality through striking paper structures mounted on walls or suspended in mid-air.

Set within a functioning gym, the work uses its surroundings as a metaphor for resilience, expectation, and the invisible burdens people carry. At first glance, the large-scale forms suggest heaviness, instability, or risk. Yet they are made entirely of paper — precise, deliberate, and surprisingly light — prompting visitors to question their own conditioned judgments about physical and emotional weight.

The exhibition runs from Aug. 16-30, 2025, on Saturdays only, from 3 PM to 6 PM, inviting audiences to experience a quiet but profound disruption of assumptions. By juxtaposing muscle and grit with delicate craftsmanship, Ching Kai invites reflection on how perceptions are shaped, and on the unseen narratives we hold about strength, fragility, and what deserves to be upheld.
