Experience the power of cinema at the 6th edition of Painting with Light: Festival of International Films on Art, happening from Sept. 4-14, 2025, at the National Gallery Singapore. This highly anticipated biennial event returns with over 45 films, including 36 premieres, shining a spotlight on bold perspectives from visionary filmmakers past and present.

Audiences will enjoy a wide spectrum of programming, from artist films and arthouse cinema to restored classics and groundbreaking documentaries. Highlights include the world premieres of two digitally restored works — Virgilio "Pandy" Aviado’s 1978 Footages and Briccio Santos’ Damortis, both landmark contributions to Philippine independent cinema. Also featured are experimental and documentary works from Southeast Asia, exploring themes of memory, environment, ritual, and human connection.

Adding to the excitement, the festival presents the Singapore premiere of Lav Diaz’s "Magellan," fresh from its debut at the Cannes Film Festival. Designed to bring people together in an age of digital disconnection, Painting with Light invites filmmakers, artists, and audiences alike to engage with thought-provoking stories and celebrate cinema as a collective experience.
