Mid-Autumn K-Festival Brings Korean Food & Culture to Central Market

Mid Autumn K Festival Brings Korean Food Culture to Central Market ddPhoto by Website/ Eventbrite - Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation

A taste of Korea is coming to the heart of Central this Mid-Autumn Festival season as Mid-Autumn K-Festival Week takes over Central Market from Sept. 21-27, 2026. Inspired by Korea's Chuseok harvest celebrations, the week-long festival brings together Korean food, culture, beauty, music, and interactive experiences across all three floors of the historic venue.

Food is firmly at the center of the festivities, with the G/F Oasis welcoming visitors to enjoy free K-food tastings, live cooking shows, celebrity chef appearances, sunset music sessions, guest bartender shifts, K-pop DJ parties, and taekwondo performances throughout the week.

One of the biggest draws is the Hong Kong debut of Monk Sunjae, the Korean Temple Food master featured on Netflix's "Culinary Class Wars " Season 2, who will host a live demonstration and share her philosophy of food as medicine through traditional temple cuisine on Sept. 24.

The star-studded culinary lineup continues with Netflix stars Chef Park Joon-woo and Chef Lim Hee-won, who will showcase French-Korean fusion dishes and modern takes on Korean ingredients on Sept. 26 and 27, respectively.

Visitors can also sign up for hands-on masterclasses with local chefs including Chef Jun, who will teach participants how to make Crab Meat Gimbap and a seasonal Korean fruit tart, and Chef Owen Lau, who is known for his creative Hong Kong-meets-Korea interpretations.

On top of these, guests can also expect free 1++ Hanwoo beef tastings, Yoajung frozen yogurt giveaways by completing a quest card, K-beauty workshops with samples and giveaways, a marketplace on the second floor featuring trending Korean brands and products, traditional Bojagi gift wrapping, and a festive Full Moon Party on Sept. 25.

Most activities are free of charge, with some requiring a HK$100 deposit (to be refunded upon checking in) via Eventbrite. For updates and more information, follow Mid-Autumn K-Festival and aT Center Hong Kong (Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation) on Instagram.

Coffee lovers, clear your calendars: Urban Brew Summit 2026 returns to The Mills in Tsuen Wan for two long weekends, bringing Japanese specialty coffee, local favorites, and enough tasting opportunities to fuel your love for the drink.

Organized by The Mills and Biugorbiumui (BGBM), the summit runs from Sept. 24 to 27 and Oct. 1 to 4, 2026, from noon to 8:30 PM. This year's expanded event features more than 30 local coffee, dessert, and lifestyle brands, alongside a ticketed "Overseas Coffee Experience" featuring 10 Japanese brands from Tokyo, Hayama, Kanazawa, and Okinawa.

The main local market at M6 1/F is free and open to the public, while the "Overseas Coffee Experience" is at the atrium on M4 1/F and requires a separate ticket.

An HK$220 Urban Pass includes three 80-milliliter coffee tastings and a limited-edition tasting cup. For those who want to do a little retail therapy, an early-bird bundle costs HK$350 (discounted from HK$400) and adds a mystery gift bag. Just 200 early-bird sets are available online via this link.

Possible gifts include 100 grams of Japanese coffee beans, a Dark Arts Coffee Japan T-shirt, a box of selected drip bags, a cap or other merchandise, and coffee goods from participating Japanese brands.

Dairy Queen Makes a Sweet Comeback with 4 New HK Stores This November

Dairy Queen 4Photo by Instagram/Dairy Queen

The city's dessert lovers have another sweet reason to get excited this year. American soft-serve giant Dairy Queen is officially making its return to Hong Kong this November, marking its comeback decades after its brief stint in Causeway Bay in 1979 when various American fast-food chains first entered the market.

The brand will kick off its Hong Kong revival with a flagship store at One Causeway Bay on Gloucester Road, while a second confirmed outlet is set to open at lifestyle, shopping, and entertainment hub The ANGLE in Kwun Tong. Two additional locations across the New Territories and the outlying islands are also planned, with further details expected soon.

Dairy Queen Blizzard, drinks, cone

Known around the world for its signature soft-serve cone and legendary Blizzard treats, Dairy Queen has built a devoted following thanks to its thick ice cream creations packed with cookie, candy, and brownie mix-ins. The Blizzard remains one of the chain's most iconic menu items, famous for being served upside down to prove just how thick it is.

The upcoming openings are only the beginning, though. Under plans announced by International Dairy Queen, operator Shanghai Dairy Queen Limited aims to open 60 DQ restaurants in Hong Kong before 2034, so expect more branches in the coming years!

For updates and more details, visit Dairy Queen's website or follow them on Instagram and Facebook.

PMQ Flockfest 2026 Brings Craft Beer and Live Music to Central

Flockfest 2026Photo by Flockfest/Instagram

If your ideal weekend involves a glass of cold craft beer and live music, PMQ Flockfest 2026 should already be marked on your calendar this week. The three-day craft beer and music festival runs from Sept. 11 to 13, 2026 at PMQ's Courtyard & Marketplace on the ground floor, with free admission throughout.

Organized and presented by Black Kite Brewery, Flockfest brings together four Hong Kong breweries and four Japanese breweries in a "4-by-4" collaboration. The Hong Kong lineup includes the organizers themselves, Deadman Brewery, Heroes Beer Co., and Yardley Brothers, alongside Japan's Black Tide Brewery, DD4D Brewery, Far Yeast Brewing, and Shizuoka-based West Coast Brewing.

Together, these craft breweries will introduce eight limited-edition collaboration beers, plus signature brews and exclusive flavors. In other words, there's plenty to explore even if you attend all three days of the festival. Flockfest also features curated food pairings, with four local food stalls offering special menus and beer-pairing recommendations.

Flockfest, however, is not strictly a drinking affair. The program includes 13 live music acts spanning indie rock, R&B, and alternative — a music lineup that, like the beer counterpart, also bridges the culture between the two locations. Interactive sessions will also give beer enthusiasts the chance to meet master brewers from Hong Kong and Japan, while pop-up stores and creative workshops ensure there's plenty more to do, like shopping and getting crafty.

The festival runs from 5 to 10 PM on Friday, 12 NN to 10 PM on Saturday, and 12 NN to 5 PM on Sunday. Admission is free, while visitors can pre-book an event beer package that includes limited-edition glassware and other perks. Klook packages are also available, with exclusive merch.

There's a lot packed into this weekend at the PMQ for both dedicated craft beer fans and curious enthusiasts alike. If you want a weekend plan that involves a little something more than a drink invite, Flockfest can give you both the drink and the entertainment.

This New Corn Snow Ice Is Your Next Unexpected Hot Pot Companion

Fall in Thai shave ice cornPhoto by Instagram/Fall in Thai

Popular Shanghainese Thai-inspired hotpot restaurant Fall In Thai has added a new frozen treat to their dessert menu. Putting a playful spin on viral Korean sweet corn deserts and the comfort food classic, cool off this season with Fall In Thai's Creamy Corn Soup Crunchy Snow Ice. Inspired by the rich, savory flavors of corn soup, the new creation transforms the familiar favorite into a refreshing snow ice dessert designed to cool diners down after a fiery Thai hotpot feast.

Known for its authentic Thai broths and lively hot pot experience, the local favorite is venturing into sweet-and-savory territory with their dessert that delivers multiple layers of flavor and texture in every spoonful. Mixed throughout the creamy snow ice are three signature corn ingredients that add crunch, richness, and bursts of sweetness to bring even more texture to the table: corn grains, crispy corn flakes, and popcorn.

The new dessert arrives as the perfect counterpart to Fall In Thai's signature hot pot flavors, including Tom Yum Goong Shrimp Broth, Coconut Milk Chicken Broth, and Slow-cooked Beef Brisket Coconut Milk Chicken Combo. After a bubbling pot, a spoonful of icy corn goodness offers an instant cooldown and a welcome break from the heat.

The Creamy Corn Soup Crunchy Snow Ice is now available at Fall In Thai's AIRSIDE and New Town Plaza locations while stocks last. For the latest updates, follow the restaurant on Instagram and Facebook.

This latest version takes things further, as it fills the crispy, golden waffle with savory-sweet char siu from Luk On Kui and finishes it with a bright squeeze of lemon. The result is a balance of sweet, smoky, tangy, and refreshing flavors that packs plenty of character into every bite.

Available now at Chicken Egg Boy in Sheung Wan, the Sorrowful Pineapple Bun Egg Waffle is the latest reason to stop by one of the neighborhood’s most popular snack spots. For more details and updates, follow Chicken Egg Boy and Shin Shin Legends on Instagram.

This Mid-Autumn 2026, Shaz Confections' Celestial Carousel Mochi Mooncake Set features six freshly handmade mini mochimooncakes in a whimsical, interactive, spinning Ferris wheel-style box. The less-sugar recipe keeps the fun, minus a little bit of the guilt, while the built-in cutlery drawer adds a practical touch for those gifting this set.

There are two flavor options. The Bronze Gold trio contains two of each of three flavors: fragrant Pandan, savory-sweet Salted Egg Custard, and Dark Chocolate made with 61% Italian dark chocolate. For durian lovers, the Marigold Orange set comes with six Premium Musang King Durian Mochi mooncakes.

They're currently accepting orders. Prices start at HK$468 for the first box, HK$388 for the second, and HK$168 for the third, while the fourth box costs just HK$58. Boxes five through seven are HK$308 each. Those buying four boxes also receive a free Pineapple Tart or Durian Cookie gift box, while orders of 12 or more boxes qualify for free delivery within Hong Kong. Quantities are strictly limited; however, ordering more does have its unique perks.

lulu BAOBAO Launches New Plant-Based Vegan Crab Roe Menu

Lulu BAOBAOPhoto by Instagram/ lulu BAOBAO

lulu BAOBAO, the MICHELIN-recommended noodle and xiao long bao shop known for handcrafted dumplings, has added new vegan options to their menu.

The three-time MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau recognized restaurant has rolled out the plant-based crab roe series at both of their locations: Central's Tai Kwun and Wong Chuk Hang. Instead of actual crab, the dense, savory flavor is drawn from premium mushrooms, offering a guilt-free play on the classic Cantonese delicacy.

Their latest lineup includes three dishes: hand-crafted noodles coated in rich, golden vegan crab roe; an instant tofu pot that mixes silken tofu with the mushroom-based roe (served alongside veggie rice); and made-to-order vegan crab roe xiao long bao.

For another option, diners can swap the veggie rice for noodles with shredded vegetables at no extra cost. And as a pro tip: the restaurant recommends adding a splash of vinegar.

lulu BAOBAO continues to build on their reputation as a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand for two years straight, from 2025 to 2026, following their MICHELIN recognition in 2024.

"We promise to keep serving everything fresh and made-to-order, pouring our hearts into every single dish," the restaurant said in their statement.

For more updates and information, follow lulu BAOBAO on Instagram or visit their website.

New food alert! Hong Kong's pizza and burger lovers are about to get the best of both worlds. Two local favorites, BACI Italian Trattoria and Honbo, have teamed up for "Smash & Slice," a month-long collaboration that fuses award-winning Neapolitan pizza with the city's favorite smash burgers from Aug. 26 to Sept. 26, 2026.

The limited-edition menu sees Honbo's signature flavors making their way onto BACI's renowned 24-hour Neapolitan dough. Little Italy in NYC turns Honbo's classic burger into pizza form, layered with premium minced beef, cheddar, fresh onions, house pickles, and the brand's signature spicy sauce.

Meanwhile, California Pocket puts a playful spin on the traditional calzone with teriyaki chicken, cheddar, crisp lettuce, and creamy Kewpie mayo tucked inside a golden-baked crust.

Both pizzas are available exclusively at BACI from Sunday to Wednesday during dinner service.

Over at Honbo (Central), the collaboration takes another delicious turn with the Leaning Tower of Pizza Burger, a towering creation that combines Honbo's smash patty with authentic Italian meats, crispy textures, and a drizzle of sweet-spicy chili honey inspired by BACI's Centrosud pizza.

This crossover brings together two brands with serious credentials. BACI has been ranked among Hong Kong's top pizzerias for five consecutive years and earned recognition from 50 Top Pizza Italy from 2022 to 2026, while Honbo has built a cult following since 2017 with its commitment to quality ingredients, handmade potato milk buns, and freshly smashed beef patties.

The Smash & Slice menu is available for a limited time only. For reservations and inquiries, contact BACI Trattoria & Bar at +852 2344 0005, +852 6299 2347 (WhatsApp), or email info@bacihk.com. For more details and updates, follow BACI's Instagram and Honbo's Instagram accounts.
