In a surprising Facebook announcement, McDonald’s Hong Kong informed its dedicated followers that from 6 PM on Sept. 4, 2023, onwards the brand's popular premium roast coffee and ground coffee would be taking a short hiatus.

Initial reactions were of dismay, however, before panic could set in, McDonald’s was quick to provide clarity. The brief coffee interlude is all in the name of progress, with the chain announcing a coffee menu upgrade for outlets citywide, promising an even better coffee experience upon return.

There’s more brewing for the coffee lovers, too. Starting Sept. 5, those who order set meals will receive an automatic, complimentary upgrade to a small McCafé Americano.

If Americano isn't your cup of coffee, the petite McCafé white coffee can be added to meals for just an additional HK$2, and for those fancying a latte, it's only an extra HK$5.

Early birds are in for a treat as well! From Sept. 5 to 8, during breakfast hours, the small McCafé lattes are available a la carte at a special price of HK$10.
