Rosewood’s DarkSide Unveils New Yin-Yang Cocktail Menu

DarkSide at Rosewood Hong Kong, the sophisticated sultry jazz and cocktail parlour that is currently ranked Number 9 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, is proud to unveil its latest “Yin-Yang” menu from Nov. 30 onwards continuing the success of its previous thematic menus including Moon Menu and The Art of Mahjong Menu.

Drawing inspiration from the profound philosophy of Yin and Yang, this cocktail menu pays tribute to the ancient Chinese concept that embodies duality and interconnectedness, the harmony of heaven and earth. It celebrates the existence of two opposing yet complementary energies found in all things, whether it’s the interplay between day and night, hot and cold, or even the abstract realms of good and evil, and joy and sadness.

Guided by Rosewood’s ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy, the ‘Yin’ aspect symbolises Kowloon, nicknamed the Dark Side locally, while ‘Yang’ represents Hong Kong Island. To capture the essence of this concept, the skylines of both Kowloon and Hong Kong Island are elegantly etched onto the mirrored surface of DarkSide’s new menu, inviting guests to peer in and explore their personal connection to either Yin or Yang energy.

The Yin Yang cocktail programme features eight meticulously crafted drinks, each priced at HK$180, consisting of four Yin beverages and their corresponding Yang counterparts. Each pair is named after opposing forces, including Sun and Moon, Heaven and Earth, River and Mountain, and the ever-evocative Brightside and Darkside. The selection of ingredients for each cocktail is thoughtfully curated to reflect their Yin or Yang characteristics enhancing the overall sensory experience.

The custom-made glassware and ceramics for the Yin-Yang menu were created by local Hong Kong studios, showcasing the contrast and harmony of Yin and Yang through 3D printing and handcrafted designs.
