British Bistro 69 On Jervois Opens Up in Sheung Wan

69 on Jervois Bar and Grill opens its doors this month, occupying two floors of an imposing space at The Chelsea on Jervois Street.

Featuring 8-meter-tall ceilings, bold classic interiors, the main restaurant is designed for comfortable yet elegant banquette dining experience. Upstairs in The Blue Room, a large mezzanine floor greets the guests as they take their place around a lavish round table and peer down below at the guests downstairs.

Overseen by Culinary Director Danielle Giambattista, the multifaceted menu promises a gastronomic adventure of British homestay classics, comfort foods, and an occasional local twist.

“Whilst primarily a very British affair, we’re also deeply rooted in Hong Kong,” said Director of Operations and Founder, Simon McKinless, “serving your favourite comfort food with a friendly neighbourhood vibe and wines we can all afford.”

Signature dishes include Crispy Haggis Balls, the sinfully juicy Jervois Burger, Charred Broccoli Rabe, crispy Chicken Schnitzel, oozy 69 Macaroni and Cheese, and a nostalgic Baked Apple Crumble.

Right behind the main restaurant lies the aptly speakeasy bar, Behind 69, curated for intimate yet stylish get-togethers and cosy catch ups. With a seating capacity of only 14 people, the bar is manned by up-an-coming cocktail designer and Bar Manager, Richard Fernie.

Drinks such as The So Hong Sinner, The GoDown and Fragrant Nullah are just a few tipples guests can look forward to.
