Global 'Young Chef Young Waiter' Competition Debuts in Hong Kong

In an exciting first, the 'Young Chef Young Waiter' competition is officially coming to Hong Kong this Oct. 2023. The competition, open to chefs and waiters under 28, aims to showcase the abundant local talents in Asia’s world city and thrust Hong Kong back onto the global hospitality map.
The “Young Chef Young Waiter” competition was founded in 1979 in the UK, in partnership with UKHospitality and the UK Restaurant Association, to promote hospitality as a career choice. In 2022, the competition went global, gathering the best talents from all corners of the world for the World Finals in Monaco.
In 2023, the Hong Kong competition will take place on a Wednesday, Oct. 18. The event is set to contribute to the global competition, with the winning chef and waiter duo from each country joining the World Finals in Monaco on Nov 23 – 24. The World Champions will walk away with a cash prize of $10,000. The location is to be announced soon.

Entries for the ‘Young Chef Young Waiter” Hong Kong competition are now open on their online awards platform, and the deadline is at midnight on Sept. 18. The competition is free to join for young chefs and waiters aged 28 or under currently working in Hong Kong’s hospitality industry. The winners will be unveiled following a one-day live final on Oct. 18.
