Where to Enjoy Middle Eastern Cuisine in Hong Kong This World Kebab Day

Kebab is a Middle Eastern cuisine that comes in different forms. Nonetheless, we love the taste of grilled meat served with vegetables and many other ingredients. If you’re planning to celebrate World Kebab Day (July 8), here are some restaurants in Hong Kong that serve the most mouth-watering kebabs and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Maison Libanaise

Inspired by the cultural renaissance of 1960s Beirut, this all-day Lebanese canteen is a must-visit if you’re craving delectable Middle Eastern cuisine. Try their Shish Taouk (HK$208) to fill your stomach with chargrilled chicken skewers, sumac-grilled tomato, and toum or their Beef Kafta (HK$308) if you prefer beef skewers, hummus, and hearth-baked pita bread. For a combination of chicken and beef, you can get their Mashawi (HK$468) which also comes with a hearth-baked pita bread, pickled chilli, harissa, toum, and a marinated mushroom and vegetable skewer.

Location: 10 Shelley Street, SoHo, Hong Kong

BEDU Modern Middle Eastern Restaurant & Bar

This cosy restaurant and bar highlight the diverse street food culture of the Middle East through “a contemporary approach in the kitchen, on the floor, and behind the bar.” If you’re planning to eat out with friends, make the most of it by getting the Chef’s Menu (HK$610/person) to taste the monthly menu of their signature dishes. Most of the food on their menu are vegan and gluten-free so there’s no need to worry about dietary restrictions if you plan to order anything else.

Location: 40 Gough Street, Central, Hong Kong

27 Kebab

This Turkish and Indian Restaurant brings all the Middle Eastern classics to the table. We recommend getting their Lamb Doner Roll (HK$85), Beef Doner Roll (HK$75), or Chicken Doner Roll (HK$70). Their Lamb Shish Roll (HK$102) and Chicken Shish Roll (HK$78) are also one-of-a-kind as the skewers are rolled in pita bread with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. If you want something with rice or chips, try their Kofte with Rice or Chips (HK$98) to enjoy some grilled lamb meatballs with onions, parsley, and spices. They close late so it’s a good spot to eat after drinking out with friends, too!

Ebeneezer’s Kebabs & Pizzeria

Established in 1993, this Halal-certified Middle Eastern and Indian chain offers a range of delicious kebabs and pizzas. Some of their best sellers are the Donar Lamb Kebab (HK$114), Mix Lamb and Chicken Kebab (HK$116), Gyros Chicken Kebab (HK$84), and Chicken Tikka Kebab (HK$84). All these are served in Lebanese pita bread with salad and customer’s choice of dressing — garlic, fresh mint, French sauce, hot chili, mild chili, and mayo sauce.

Istanbul Turkish Kebabs and Grills

This restaurant has been bringing the taste of Turkey to Hong Kong since 2011. Satisfy your hunger with their popular Chicken Doner with Chips (HK$99), Beef Doner with Chips (HK$105), and Mixed Doner with Rice (HK$110). For takeaway food, their Chicken Doner Roll (HK$85) is also popular among customers. If you’re not in the mood for rice or chips, then try their Mix Kebab Pizza (HK$169) instead to savour some mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, olives, and chicken and beef doner with mozzarella cheese.
