Hong Kong to Offer Free MTR Rides, Entrance to Attractions on National Day
In a bid to boost local tourism and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, Hong Kong is offering complimentary rides on the MTR and free admissions to various attractions across the city.
On National Day (Oct. 1), all passengers can enjoy complimentary rides on the Light Rail and MTR Bus, while children aged 3 to 11 can ride the heavy rail at no cost. The MTR will also add nearly 900 extra trips from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 and provide overnight service for Mid-Autumn Festival to encourage families to enjoy the festivities with their loved ones. On Sept. 29, all MTR rail lines, excluding the Airport Express and Disneyland Resort Line, will add trips starting from 3 PM.
To further enrich the experience, Hong Kongers can visit the Hong Kong Wetland Park, Hong Kong Science Museum, and Hong Kong Space Museum for free during the National Day, including the permanent displays. Additionally, more than 60 cinemas managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will offer discounted movie tickets. For diners, exciting promos are up for grabs at more than 1,000 dining establishments.
With these initiatives, the government aims to support Hong Kong’s local tourism while encouraging people to come together to celebrate this traditional festival.
