MTR Corporation's brand-new landmark, The Wai, opened on July 22, 2023.

Residents and customers alike no longer need to travel to Shatin for entertainment and shopping. Located atop the MTR Tai Wai Station, The Wai is set to become a go-to destination for residents of the East New Territories, offering a unique and exciting shopping experience for the community.

With its prime geographic location, it is set to serve almost 700,000 residents around the Shing Mun River Area. The mall is also connected via two railway lines, The Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line, providing convenient access to the East and West New Territories, Kowloon, and even to Hong Kong Island by way of the new extension on the East Rail Line.

The mall spans four retail floors and covers nearly 650,000 square feet, with over 150 merchants. Excitement never stops at The Wai, which provides new dining options for the area, including Modern Shanghai Imperial for Chinese cuisine, Yamamotoya Sohonke Honke, a first outpost shop of a Nagoya-based Udon restaurant, and more. Many well-known concept stores will also set up new trial stores in the mall, with concepts such as NOC Coffee Co. and Under the Roof.

In terms of stores, The Wai will feature Converse and Uniqlo for fashion-lovers, as well as another branch of Muji as well as Eslite Book Store for lifestyle needs. Tai Wai will also be opening its first cinema, Emperor Cinemas, for a full entertainment experience at the mall.

But The Wai is more than just a shopping mall. For bike lovers, The Wai is also a cycling hub, being connected to the largest cycling track network in Hong Kong, with a track over 50km spanning from Tuen Mun to Sheung Shui and Sha Tin.

The mall will also be bike-friendly and host to the city's largest indoor bicycle parking lot, measuring approximately 13,000 square feet with 330 bicycle parking spaces and various bicycle-friendly facilities.
