Hong Kong's First Mountain Bike Practice Ground Opens in Mui Wo

Hong Kong’s first mountain bike practice ground dedicated to assisting beginner and experienced riders has been built in Mui Wo by the Civil Engineering & Development Department, opening on Dec. 17 (Saturday).

Built in Lantau South Country Park, the new Mui Wo Mountain Bike Practice Ground is one of the largest grounds in Asia, according to trail specialist Lim Hui-min of the International Mountain Bicycling Association.

Covering 9 kilometres and five difficulty ratings, the new Mui Wo grounds help not only advanced riders, but also riders of all levels train and play, explained Lim Hui-min to news.gov.hk.

“We have various beginners practice areas where you can learn skill sets. We have a whole series of rock gardens, from various so-called beginner to advanced rock gardens. There is a lot of progression of various skill sets for mountain biking. These are the exact features that we need for the riders to get their skill sets to the next level.”

The practice ground will be managed by the Agriculture, Fishers & Conservation Department and open 24/7, joining Hong Kong’s Mountain Bike Trail Networks in the expansion of Chi Ma Wan section to 13km in total.
