Where to Deliver Your Old Christmas Tree for Recycling in Hong Kong
Now that the holidays are over, you may be wondering how to get rid of your Christmas tree and give it a new purpose. Rather than tossing it to the curb where it will likely end up in a landfill, consider recycling or upcycling your Christmas tree for a sustainable and eco-friendly solution!
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is collecting Natural Christmas Trees (NCTs) for free, so they can be turned into useful materials like mulch and wooden products.
From Jan. 3 to 7, you can deliver your NCT to various EPD collection points in Hong Kong. The main collection point is at Y-Park in Tsang Tsui, Tuen Mun, open from 9 AM to 6 PM. Trees that are two metres in height or shorter may be delivered to various district collection points on Hong Kong Island, as well as in Kowloon and New Territories.
Make sure to remove the plastic stand and all the decorations before delivering your tree. Don’t forget to store them properly, so you can reuse them next Christmas, too!
Participants will receive an e-certificate and a gift while supplies last as a small token for delivering their trees.
