Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo to Invigorate Arts Scene for Oct. 2024 Event

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has disclosed plans to introduce the inaugural Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) from Oct. 14-18, 2024. Positioned as a flagship platform for performing arts, the HKPAX aims to foster art and cultural exchange between Hong Kong, the rest of China, and the world.

The week-long HKPAX features seven distinct sectors, including “Expo Programmes,” “International Showcases,” “Pitch Sessions,” “Talks,” “Exhibition,” “Cultural Offerings,” and “Tour to Guangzhou/Shenzhen.” These sectors will provide art practitioners with an interactive platform to explore, present, and cultivate the art of interaction.

Notably, the “Expo Programmes” will spotlight performances by Hong Kong’s established artists at premier theatres across the city. The “International Showcases” will introduce a stage to international troupes, while “Pitch Sessions” will serve as an innovative platform for budding artists to share their ideas and explore potential partnerships.

With the goal of enhancing public engagement, various public programmes will stand alongside the HKPAX to fortify appreciation for performing arts among the masses. A series of talks presented by leaders in the art and cultural sector will also be featured, sharing their perspectives on the evolving arts environment.

The HKPAX opens its doors to global participation from September 2023 onwards, welcoming artistic proposals for “International Showcases” and “Pitch Sessions.” The open call invites both art organisations and practitioners everywhere to participate in this exciting cultural milestone in Hong Kong.
