Lan Kwai Fong Launches Thai Select Carnival to Celebrate Thai Food, Culture

Bringing a unique celebration to the streets of Lan Kwai Fong, the Thai SELECT Carnival 2023 is slated to debut its inaugural edition on April 22 to showcase Thai talent and culture.

The event is inspired by Songkran, the Thai New Year celebration that takes place every year in mid-April. The carnival will feature over 30 curated Thai brands and a host of cultural performances along Lan Kwai Fong and Wo On Lane.

Visitors to the Thai SELECT Carnival will experience Thai culture, with activities spanning F&B, health and wellness, travel, and local traditions.

What’s more, the Thai SELECT label will serve as a marker of authenticity and quality for Thai restaurants that provide exceptional quality food in Hong Kong. The official Thai DITP body only awards the Thai SELECT certificate to restaurants that use original Thai ingredients. Currently, there are 43 Thai SELECT restaurants in Hong Kong.

Explore some local Thai culinary specialities, with the event treating visitors' taste buds to gourmet tastings. The rich and varied menu includes delicacies like chicken rice, papaya salad, grilled satay skewers, and dessert staples such as mango sticky rice and coconut sago cake.

The carnival will also feature various Thai brands, especially highlighting wellness and travel products and services. To bring Thai SELECT Carnival 2023 to life, Lan Kwai Fong has also announced an exciting lineup of performances and activities throughout the day, from traditional song and dance performances to Muay Thai demonstrations, parades, and other exciting surprises.

The highlight of the programme will be the water blessing ceremony, an ancient Songkran tradition that brings good luck and fortune to everyone around. Carnival goers can also look forward to the Thai dress contest, where participants will show off beautiful traditional clothing on the streets of Lan Kwai Fong.
