It has been confirmed that the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2024 (SCHKM) will return as a full-scale event next year, promising a bigger race with an increased runner quota of 74,000.

To be held on Jan. 21, 2024, the SCHKM has five race categories: the Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10 km, 10km Wheelchair Race, and 2.5km Wheelchair Trial. The Marathon and Half Marathon will begin from Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, the 10km routes at Island Eastern Corridor, and the Wheelchair races at Wan Chai Sports Ground. All races will end at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay.

The Asian Marathon Championships will also be hosted concurrently, solidifying Hong Kong’s status as a hub for top international sports events, with nearly 45 Asian countries and regions expected to participate.

Building upon its success this year, organisers will upgrade the Marathon Special Incentive Award to motivate local runners. Permanent Hong Kong residents who can finish the marathon race under three hours (sub 3) for men or under 3.5 hours for women (sub 3:30) will each be awarded a special incentive of HK$10,000.

Those eager to participate must register through a public ballot, which will officially start at 10 AM on Sept. 21. Click here to register now.
