HEINEKEN Partners With NGOs to Improve Food Security in Malaysia
HEINEKEN, one of the world’s leading beer brands, launched its “HEINEKEN Cares” programme to build long-term food security in Malaysia.
For every 1,000 steps taken by a HEINEKEN employee, the multinational company will provide three meals to every household in Malaysia.
Last year, HEINEKEN provided 150,000 meals to vulnerable communities in Malaysia. This year, the company aims to deliver more than 600,000 meals to local families.
In partnership with non-government organisations (NGOs), HEINEKEN will be setting up satellite aquaponic systems, small-scale farms, and food-driven initiatives.
To further address the needs of Malaysians, the beer company will also be working with local businesses including Epic, Hope Place Kuching, Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia, Kupikupifm, and The Lost Food Project.
Established in 1864, HEINEKEN is a multinational brewing company operating in more than 190 countries and territories worldwide, including Malaysia.
