433 Bettors Win 6/55 Grand Lotto Jackpot of P236 Million; Lawmakers to Probe ‘Suspicious’ Result

In an unprecedented occurrence, a total of 433 bettors emerged as winners of the 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot of P236 million on Oct. 1, with the winning combination of 09-18-27-36-45-54. According to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the winners will split the prize, and each will take home P545,245.54, subject to 20% tax.

In a radio interview on Sunday, Oct. 2, Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel said he plans to file a resolution to probe the “suspicious” result and investigate the PCSO’s entire system. “We need to maintain and protect the integrity of these gambling games that we have authorized,” Pimentel said.

Senator Risa Hontiveros expressed her support for Pimentel’s plan to audit the lotto result. “I support my minority leader in his call to investigate the extraordinary results. We just want to rule out any doubts in the public mind that the results have been manipulated,” Hontiveros said.

Meanwhile, the PCSO said in a press conference on Sunday, Oct. 2, that there were no anomalies and irregularities with their gaming system. “The PCSO is honest about its responsibility and mandate to conduct games that are trustworthy, have integrity, utmost sincerity, and transparency,” said PCSO General Manager Melquiades Aypa Robles.
