You Can Now Read Original Filipino Comics Online With Penlab’s New Mobile App
Original Filipino comics (or komiks as we lovingly call it) platform Penlab announced on social media the release of their new mobile app, allowing fans to read their favorites or discover new ones anytime, anywhere. Powered by social entertainment platform kumu, the app aims to reach a wider audience so local creators can share their works and earn a living through their passion.
Founded by creative content group Kalabaw Kolektib, Penlab is home to over 300 comic titles covering several genres, such as comedy, romance, drama, suspense, indie, and science-fiction and fantasy. Readers can enjoy works written in Filipino, English, and Taglish.
“We hope to unlock the creative potential of Filipino creators,” kumu co-founder Angelo Mendez was quoted as saying. “Coming soon, we will be launching the Penlab Create feature, where anyone can upload their stories.”
The new Penlab app is available for download via App Store and Google Play. As of writing, it has reached more than 5,000 downloads.
