COMELEC to Launch 'Register Anywhere' Project in Five Malls in Metro Manila on Dec. 17
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will be piloting its "Register Anywhere" project (RAP) on Dec. 17 after it was greenlit last Oct. 26 by the en banc of its operational plan, according to a press statement yesterday by COMELEC spokesperson Atty. John Rex C. Laudiangco.
The pilot project will take place in five select malls in the National Capital Region every Saturday and Sunday until Jan. 29, 2023. COMELEC shall determine the malls at a later date.
Any eligible applicant living anywhere in the Philippines may register at the RAP booths in these malls during the pilot phase and submit their application form and other required documents. They may also have their biometric data taken on-site. This is unlike before when only residents of the locality where the mall is were allowed to do so.
As per the release, the documents and biometric data will then be endorsed and sent by the RAP teams to the Office of the Election Officer of the city or municipality where the applicant resides for their verification, publication, posting, and Election Registration Board hearing.
The initial internal end-to-end demonstration of the RAP was led by COMELEC Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia and Commissioner Rey E. Bulay on Nov. 4 in Robinsons Place, Ermita in Manila ahead of its official rollout.
